It is that time of the year when the Sedibeng District Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Mahole Simon Mofokeng presents the Integrated Development Plan and the Budget for the year ahead

This he will be doing through the Annual Sedibeng State of the District Address (SoDA) 2010 scheduled for Wednesday, 26 May 2010, at the Sicelo Shiceka Stadium, Jantene, Ward 10 Midvaal, Sedibeng, under the theme: “Together with our communities - final push to the speedy service delivery”

This must also be seen in its context as a continuation of the Sedibeng District Municipality's commitment to account to its communities on its achievements, with specific focus on service delivery including discussing challenges experienced during the period under review. The SoDA is also used as a vehicle to chart the road map for the coming financial year.

The SoDA 2010 will be unique in nature, given its content as it comes at the tail-end of the 5 year of the current political mandate following the 2006 Local Government Elections. SoDAs in their nature provide to communities and political leadership the much needed platform of engagement.

The people of Sedibeng would be happy to know that this year's State of the District Address stands-out amongst others because of the fact that it takes place in the background of the important landmarks in the political history of our country. These landmarks are this year's commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Sharpeville Massacre; the 20th Anniversary of the release of President Nelson Mandela from prison; the 17th Anniversary of the assassination of the late Mr. Chris Hani; and the fact that it happens a day after the celebration of the Africa Day on the 25th May.

“It has always been and it is still our commitment to continue working with our people on visible and tangible programmes which will bring changes to improve the lives of ordinary people and communities in our District Municipality”, said the Executive Mayor, Cllr. Mahole Simon Mofokeng

“This can be seen by the recent 47th Sedibeng District Council Meeting which sat on the 31st March 2010, in Vereeniging, when the people of Sedibeng received an official announcement on the 100 Days Service Delivery Projects. This, I announced during the tabling of the Draft Integrated Development Plans & Draft Budget for the financial year 2010 / 2011”, added the Executive Mayor

This year's State of the District Address will be preceded by the Executive Mayor and his entourage's visit to the 100 Days Service Delivery Projects to assess their level of implementation.
Transport will be avail to ensure that people attend this important State of the District Address. For more information in this regard, people are advised to please contact their Ward Councillors and Community Development Workers.
