The 51st Council sitting was held at the Vereeniging Banquet hall on the 01st December 2010, coinciding with the internationally commemorated World Aids Day.

The Speaker of the Council: Cllr. Kedibone Mogotsi opened the council with the symbolic lighting of a candle lead by Cllr. Busi Mncube – MMC of Finance, in memory of people affected and infected by HIV and AIDS.

It is at this gathering where, during his address, the Executive Mayor - Cllr. Mahole Simon Mofokeng handed Mrs. Molete a key to her family’s newly built home. The house was built as a result of one the committed projects by the Executive Mayor on the 21 March 2010, which resulted in areas such Evaton and Sharpeville being renovated.

The home that Mitta lived in made it difficult to carry out her day to day activities.  It was for this reason that the Executive Mayor of Sedibeng Cllr. Simon Mofokeng took a resolution to build a new home that will be suitable for her circumstances.

“I hope that the Molete Family will enjoy the new living space which will greatly improve the quality of life for Mitta as it improves her mobility, access and her ability to carry out her chores,” said the Executive Mayor.
