Tourism stars celebrated at Sedibeng Tourism Awards 2014 18 Apr 2014

The Sedibeng Tourism Awards 2014 was hosted by the Sedibeng District Municipality, in partnership with the Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA), on 10 April 2014 at the opulently decorated Three Rivers Lodge & Villa Anna Sophia in Vereeniging, Gauteng.

It has become customary that finalists and guests of the Vaal region’s annual Tourism Awards are treated to a 5 Star event in celebration of service excellence within the local tourism sector, and this year was no different.

To set the tone for the evening, guests were greeted by a dazzling display of black and gold adorned entertainers from the local Boswell Wilkie Circus and an unconventional saxophonist riding a spectacular jet-black Friesian horse.

To ensure that the guests, especially this year’s finalists, were made to feel like the deserving stars they are, a generous sponsorship from Ferrero Rocher provided the backdrop for an extravagant evening inside the venue, as huge Rocherone balls were decked out as centre pieces below great, golden lit candelabras on each table.

Guests included dignitaries from the government sector, finalists of the Sedibeng Tourism Awards, media and other stakeholders, and were welcomed by the Sedibeng MMC for Economic Development and Tourism, Cllr. Maipato Tsokolibane. The event was graced by  the CEO of Gauteng Tourism, Ms. Dawn Robertson, the Acting Mayor, Sedibeng District Municipality, Cllr. Assistance Mshudulu, Acting Mayor, Emfuleni Local Municipality, Cllr. Mabandla Ronyuza and Acting Mayor, Midvaal Local Municipality, Cllr. Malcolm Hack.

Well-known TV personality, actor and singer, Katlego Maboe, wowed as the MC and crooner for the evening and the up and coming Bravura opera singers were also at hand to entertain guests.
