Leadership Changes at Sedibeng 13 Nov 2015
At a Special sitting of the Council of the Sedibeng District Municipality held on Thursday 12 November 2015, sweeping changes were made to the leadership of the Municipality. Earlier in the day, former Mayor Mahole Simon Mofokeng was elected as the new Mayor of the Emfuleni Local Municipality. At the same meeting former MMC for LED of Sedibeng District, Maipato Tsokolibane was elected as Emfuleni’s Speaker, while Cllr Christina Sale became the new Chief Whip at Emfuleni.

These changes prompted sweeping changes at Sedibeng which saw former Sedibeng Speaker, Cllr Busi Modisakeng, becoming the new Executive Mayor of Sedibeng. Former Emfuleni Speaker, Cllr Greta Hlongwane is now the Speaker of Sedibeng District and ANC veteran Sithole Assistance Mshudulu is the new Chief Whip of the Sedibeng Council. The newly elected Mayor also announced her new Mayoral Committee in her inaugural address which is available here.
