THE SEDIBENG DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY AGRICULTURAL UNIT SUPPORTS GRAIN FARMERS AND INNOTEGY RENEWABLE FUELS SOLUTIONS

There are a lot of agricultural and rural development activities going on in the region. Numerous government departments/agencies and relevant agricultural role players are working together on a number of initiatives that are meant to enhance, assist, and generate opportunities for the region. On the 21st August 2025, Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) hosted National Department of Agriculture (NDA), Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) and Innotegy at Technorama Museum for a workshop with regional Grain Farmers.

The National Department of Agriculture (NDA) facilitated the workshop and Innotegy delivered a comprehensive presentation on renewable fuels solutions and the involvement of the Grain farmers. Innotegy is a South African based company that leads investments in low carbon energy solutions, including sustainable fuels and renewable energy.

The Innotegy team premised on their commitment to unlock the region’s endowments and drive socio-economic impact particularly unemployment. They provide an alternative market access and support through farming partnership models. Innotegy is calling for Grain farmers in the region to partner with them in order to plant products for fuel purposes. They commit to provide funders for the project, ensure quality and compliant practises and farmers benefit from experience and international best standards. Innotegy commits to share resources, risks and rewards through contracts.

Mr Someleze Jali, Manager Fresh Produce Market and Agriculture alluded “We call upon our Grain Farmers in the region to make use of this market access opportunity but without compromising food security”.
