Sedibeng Partnered with CellC on the Mayoral Outreach Programme to Recognize Top 2023 Learners from both Primary and Secondary Level

Sedibeng District Municipality, led by Executive Mayor, Cllr. Lerato Maloka, joined forces with Cell C on Wednesday, 17 April 2024, to host a Mayoral Outreach Programme aimed at honouring the academic excellence of the Sedibeng Class of 2023.

The programme celebrated the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2023 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination, which saw a pass rate increase to 83% in 2023 from 82.9% in the previous year.

The package donated by CellC, one of SA’s leading telecommunications companies which included 10 Smart Celeron Laptops featuring cutting-edge technology, alongside Smart Anti-Theft Laptop Backpacks designed to ensure added security for these valuable resources. Furthermore, 100 School Backpacks were distributed to support students in their academic pursuits. The following schools received the donation:

Emfuleni Local Municipality (Mohaladitoe Secondary School, Prestigious Primary, Tsoaranang Primary and Mahareng Secondary)

Midvaal Local Municipality (Sicelo Primary and New Hope Secondary)

Lesedi Local Municipality (Ratanda Secondary, MM Moeketsi Primary and Ratanda Primary)

"We are grateful to Cell C for their contribution to our schools. This donation will have a positive impact on the educational experience of our students, providing them with the tools they need to succeed in the digital age. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Cell C to create a brighter future for our youth," stated executive mayor, Cllr. Lerato Maloka in her welcoming address.

The kind gesture by CellC to partner with Sedibeng schools for the betterment of the learners is encouraging, the first school to be awarded with IT equipment was the Ratasetjaba Primary Farm School where 100 MiDesks and now it has extended to more schools, the partnership is what the SDM needs to better enhance the hard work the learners put in their school work.
