Lerato Franscinah Maloka is a community worker and activist. She is deeply committed to addressing the needs and concerns of the community, particularly in areas such as job creation, economic development, and social welfare. Her passion for grassroots engagement and empowerment drives her to actively collaborate with local organisations and stakeholders to bring about positive change and sustainable development.
She is a highly experienced and accomplished leader in local government and politics. She currently holds the position of Executive Mayor in Sedibeng District Municipality in South Africa's Gauteng Province. Throughout her career, she has held significant roles such as Chairperson of the Local Economic Development and Job Creation Working Group at SALGA, NEC Member of SALGA, and Political Head of the Vaal SEZ (Special Economic Zone). Her vast experience in these roles showcases her expertise in economic development and job creation initiatives.
She holds an Advanced Diploma in Public Law and a National Diploma in Management Assistant. Additionally, she has completed various certificate programmes in municipal management, executive leadership, project management, and municipal finance, among others. She is a skilled communicator and negotiator with advanced decision-making and problem-solving skills. She has a strong service orientation, critical thinking abilities, and is well-versed in economic and financial management matters.
Ms. Maloka has held an impressive range of positions within the African National Congress (ANC), including membership on the ANC Provincial Executive Committee. She has also served in the Sedibeng District Municipality, the Lesedi Local Municipality, and as a member of the Salga National Executive Council. Ms. Maloka has participated in community activities like peer counselling and ward-based activities.
Ms Maloka is a champion for women's empowerment and has been actively involved in advocating for gender equality and women's rights. She has been instrumental in organising workshops and seminars focused on empowering women economically and politically. Ms. Maloka strongly believes that by empowering women, society as a whole can benefit from their unique perspectives and contributions.
